Beyond Legacy Death Saloon

Real Conversations. Good Company.
A Different Way to Talk About Death.

Death is one of the few experiences we all share, yet it remains one of the least discussed. At Beyond Legacy Death Saloon, we're creating space to change that.

Join us for an evening of honest conversation about death, dying, grief, caregiving, legacy, and what it means to live well while we are here.

Whether you have experienced a recent loss, work in end-of-life care, are planning ahead for yourself or a loved one, or are simply curious about the conversation, you are welcome here.

There is no agenda, presentation, or expectation to share. Come to listen, contribute, ask questions, or simply be present.

Our goal is simple: to normalize conversations about death so we can approach life with greater intention, connection, and peace.

How We Normalize Death

  • All conversations are confidential, and everyone’s thoughts and feelings are respected.

  • There’s no pressure to speak; feel free to just listen, reflect, or share.

  • Regardless of your background, beliefs, or experiences, we encourage people from all walks of life to attend and share their perspectives.

Shane Cowles is an Iraq combat veteran who brings a grounded, service-driven perspective to end-of-life work and community dialogue.

As a member of the Beyond Legacy Board of Directors and host of Beyond Legacy Death Saloon, Shane helps create spaces where people can engage in open, respectful conversations about death, dying, grief, and legacy.

Shane is also the co-host of the Talk Dead to Me podcast, where he explores mortality, meaning, and the human experience with honesty, curiosity, and humor.

In addition to his public-facing work, Shane serves as a death doula and hospice volunteer, supporting individuals and families through some of life's most tender transitions with presence, compassion, and care.

His approach reflects the heart of Beyond Legacy's mission: helping people navigate conversations around death with dignity, openness, and humanity.

WHY THESE CONVERSATIONS MATTER

At Beyond Legacy, we believe that talking about death is not about giving up on life. It is about living more intentionally.

When we create space for honest conversations about mortality, we often discover what matters most: our relationships, our values, our memories, and the legacy we hope to leave behind.

Death Saloon offers an opportunity to explore these topics in community, one conversation at a time.
